Rules last update July 1st 2014
The story is set at the year 210 AL (as of July 1st), just after the Spring Sickness. Read our sim story for a more in depth looks.
1. Avatar Appearance and Age: As this is an adult rated sim, all players will be at least 18 years of age. All avatars will be adult. Please dress your avatar appropriately for the setting.
The dress code is loosely medieval (Year 1200 - 1400) but with some leeway, as this is a fantasy series. At this time we are NOT accepting animal avatars.
2. IC and OOC: A strong separation and understanding of OOC (Out-of-Character) and IC (In-Character) is required at all times. All players, regardless of role, will be treated as equals OOC. Please reserve OOC comments for IMs, as appropriate.
In Character Actions = In Character Consequences. Admins will not overturn legitimate roleplay. If your IC lead sends you home, that's it.
3. Combat and RP Disputes: All matters of combat will be settled via turn-based RP, as the sim is not metered. RP dice are available for use, and should any player decide they wish to use them, both must then use dice. Players are required to take appropriate damage based upon hits issued. OOC communication via IM for clarification of RP is encouraged. As a last resort, players directly involved in a disputed scene may request for an official moderator to levy judgment and write an IC ending to the storyline for involved players. The RP Mod's word is final. Only moderators are permitted to invalidate RP.
4. Alts: Alts are permitted, provided they are used responsibly to enhance RP. We discourage having cross-connecting alts, meaning no alts within the same household, and if possible, same region. As roles are limited, only one great house member is allowed at this time.
5. NPCs (Non-player characters) are also permitted. If you use an NPC in combat, you may only use ONE ( 1 ) NPC. Combat NPCs must be explicitly present in RP from the beginning of a scene or be introduced plausibly. Please note - NPCs are to be used for DEFENSIVE purposes, not offensive (meaning a person may have an NPC guard, who defend their character - but above rules apply. Please contact an admin if you think the circumstances justify an alteration of this. For example, more guards around a house.)
** The use of defensive NPCs (for example a guard) is limited to non-combative characters who can justify it. (Nobles, or smallfolk who can show payment)
NPCs are to be used sparingly. Unless you would reasonably have control of them, please do not create NPCs for roleplay. For everyday use, a list of commonly known NPCs is provided. The only people who have total control of them are the OOC smallfolk lead (blairwilson) and the admins.
This is to create a need for smallfolk and commoners, rather than the assumption that they are there. Use them and draw them into roleplay as much as possible!
What is approved:
Common NPCs at Camp
Children (characters under 18 years of age. Must have a point of contact IC for control of them)
Minimal household staff (Preferably PCs used here)
Guards
Maesters ONLY if there is not one available. If there is, they must be given first priority in all things. Please ask in group chat first!
What is NOT approved:
Random commoners
NPCs not listed on the commonly known list
Control of the commonly known by PCs
6. Adherence to lore and admin intervention: For the most part, the admins will be taking a backseat to the roleplay. They are there as facilitators to aid the players and help set the stage for your stories, but the rest is up to organic storytelling. The only time an admin may interfere is to ensure that the lore in which we like to play makes sense, or to handle any inevitable disputes. We are here to HELP you, not to write your story for you.
**Do not contact the Sim Owner for admin purposes. Your request will be ignored.
7. Time: For the purposes of our roleplay 1 RL week = 1 month IC. That means if it takes you a week to respond to an IC summons, you have delayed responding for a MONTH in roleplay, and subsequent consequences will happen. Do not be afraid to delegate, and take your time if you need to.
Jan 1st, April 1st, July 1st and Oct 1st are the turns of a new year, and seasons are marked on the calendar.
8. Currency: Money is an important part of day to day roleplay, for our purposes, we will be following this information:
Currency for the Iron Throne
State of Wealth in the Kingdom
9. Eavesdropping - To know something IC, you must post into the scene BEFORE you can ICly hear something. You must be within 10m to fully overhear something spoken in a normal tone of voice, otherwise it would only be bits and pieces. You cannot listen through walls, although you can listen through tents.
In order to listen through a tent, you must post getting past and around the guards who are stationed around, and regularly patrol each area.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Please seek out your chosen OOC lead FIRST who will then direct you on how to apply.
List of available roles.
